I'm also feeling - from listening and absorbing the critical reception - that King of Limbs is less Kid A/In Rainbows and more Amnesiac/Hail to the Thief, i.e. not nominated outside of Alternative Album.
So gets the rock slot in AoTY?

I doubt it.
Grammys tend to love to recognize the country stars alot and taylor being one of the most popular ones will most likely get nominated for SOTY.

The Foo Fighters are dropping an album this year. We'll see.

I think Taylor would need a "You Belong With Me," "Breathe," "You're Still The One" or "Need You Now"-type song to compete.

Taylor still has a lot of good singles on her album(haunted) that she can release that will keep the attention of NARAS. I think she will fill that country slot for AOTY

Do we really still believe that? I feel like most people have forgiven him. The question is whether NARAS are hardcore Taylor stans or if her AOTY win was just a symbolic gesture (I lean heavily toward the latter).

I agree that the lack of successful singles for this era are a huge setback for Kanye, but I'm still waiting for "All of the Lights." There's a (small) chance it might still break through and save this era.

I think you guys are forgetting one person who is a huge Grammy favorite... Alison Krauss. She is a Grammy favorite and country artist. She's not super old (39. People seem to think she is an old foggie Voters have been snubbing vets). I think she is someone to look out for.

How about Coldplay for the rock slot? Their album was pushed back, though, so they might miss the deadline.
But Adele will sweep, so I guess it doesn't matter. I actually don't LOVE 21 like I did a few weeks ago (though it's still good), but it's better than the winners from the past few years. I can't be mad.
And I agree that Taylor might be snubbed. Her album sold well, obviously, but I don't know...it's just not the phenomenon Fearless was.

Fat chance.
Album of the Year is quickly filling up - here's how I see it.
AS OF NOW:
1. Adele, 21
2. Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
3. Lady Gaga, Born This Way
- -- ------ --- ---- -- - - - -- -
4. Beyoncé, Unreleased
5. Coldplay, Unreleased
6. Foo Fighters, Unreleased
---- ---- ----- ----- ------------ ---------
7. Radiohead, The King of Limbs
8. Taylor Swift, Speak Now
9. Bruno Mars, Doo-Wops and Hooligans
10. Cee-Lo Green, The LadyKiller
11. Elton John/Leon Russel
12. Lil' Wayne, The Carter IV

I have a feeling that Taylor Swift might not even be nominated for AOTY. That is...unless she, by some miracle, releases a smash single in the same vein of Love Story or You Belong With Me. As Ace said...Speak Now is lookin' more and more like 2010/2011's Sunrise.

I would take Lil Wayne off that list. Dr. Dre has way more hype and anticipation than Lil Wayne does now. It seems that if there is ANYONE to compete with Kanye this year, it would be Dr. Dre (sorta like Jay-Z vs. Eminem, funny). I think Lil Wayne won't experience the same success he did with C3. I doubt the panel will be itching to throw him a nomination when they can throw a sentimental nomination to a longtime vet like Dr. Dre.

What convinced me was how they treated her last year, snubbing "Mine" for bonafide flops by GRETCHEN WILSON, LEANN RIMES and JEWEL. Taylor's our generation's Mariah when it comes to the Grammys - they only nominate her when she's too big to ignore.
And Captain, I always forget about Dre.

Dre has a lot of hype, but if the rest of the album is like Kush and INAD...

I really think Born This Way (album) could get a lot of votes from the rock genre for AOTY, because a LOT of rock stars seem to love her: Springsteen, McCartney, KISS, etc... If the pop genre is loyal to her also, maybe she can get enough votes to overcome Speak Now and the country genre's block-voting.

It will be a Beyonce, Gaga, Adele & Kanye night. All those predicting Britney Spears, Rihanna and the likes are wrong. Grammy don't like them...
