Except entertainment and drinking was booming before the Great Depression. Ever hear of The Roaring Twenties? Yeah, jazz may have been big in the 30s, but the popularity of illegal drinking in the 20s helped that era alot. There wasn't much celebrating happening after 1929, between the Depression, WWII, and The Dust Bowl.
