Regardless or not of whether Gaga "invented" unicorns (I use the term loosely), Gaga's influence on the contemporary pop scene is undeniable. She can take the most boring thing (i.e. Wonderbread) and give it a deep-rooted significance (whether or not it's pre-meditated or thought of on the spot is irrelevant), thereby making it en vogue.
The point is she's a master at taking you for a ride, and that's part of the illusion and the entertainment factor. Ke$ha has always been "inspired" by Gaga. Gaga says her new album will be titled "Born This Way", a month later Ke$ha's spewing out a single called "We R Who We R", Gaga gets a tattoo of a unicorn, Ke$ha's licking unicorns or whatever.
In the end, who cares really, it's all been done before, there's nothing really new about it. Gaga takes inspiration from people who came before her too. But, going back to what I said before, Gaga has a way of making it sound deep and special, or better yet, making it look like a tribute of some sort. It's like writing an essay - there's plagiarism and citations. (Stupid analogy, I know, but I'm writing an essay so I'm in that mindset.)
