I don't understand a lot of things about the world. But I don't understand this.

Why does he feel that there's always something about him. There are plenty of Black people whose talents have not gone unnoticed; Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, Janet Jackson, Anika Noni Rose, Beyonce, Gabourey Sidibe, Whoopi Goldberg.

But the awards aren't enough to these people. They want a Black person to win every single year? For years, so many Black people have talked about how they have been the casual victims of racism (and I believe them, trust me), but isn't what this guy saying mildly racist?

People usually mention that their black for humor, or for something they say that might sound weird if they were another race, or to use the "Is it because I'm black?" card. But I wouldn't know since I'm not African American anyway.

I don't know either. I guess it's fine since it's attention grabbing but it seems like when you open it it's going to be something racist or offending.

On topic: Race is sometimes a touchy thing. I don't think people should get extra privilege from it. I don't like the "Is it cause I'm black?" card used (when serious, of course). There's a difference between being proud of being black and assuming there are things that should be different just cause of race... which even if it says black people should get bonuses is racist. Everyone deserves to be treated the same, and it's crap when somebody; white, Mexican, black, Asian, Native American, etc. believe there is an advantage they have on others. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I noticed that no Blacks were recognized at the show this year, but it has nothing to do with racism. This particular year wasn't a year where black movies, producers, etc. stood out. For Colored Girls was the best chance at some Oscar love for Blacks, but that movie was a critical failure. I do wish people would stop that race card (or any card) thing. It doesn't always work.

If the Oscars were racist than no black actor would get nominated or win during the 83 years of this award show.

You are taking something one person has said, and then turned it into a post titled "Why do some Black people...".

If what he has said is a problem, it is not a Black person problem, but a personal problem regarding him. I've reread your post several times, and I still don't see the question you're post is supposed to be about. Why do 'some Black people' do what? I don't get it.

He's not saying it's about him. Obviously, he is a part of the Black community and is bothered by the fact that Blacks are looked at less in such "prestigious" award shows like the Oscars. Just because some actors have been nominated or recognized in the past doesn't mean anything regarding what he said. He never said Black Actors don't get any credit from the Academy, just that it's very few and far between. In the Oscar's 83 years, a Black actress has only been nominated for Best Actress 8 times, with only 1 winning. For Actors, only 18, with only 4 winning.

It's obvious that a non-white presence in the Academy is very minuscule.

What do you mean by "these people"? No, no one expects a Black person to win something every year. It's just very eye-opening that there was not even ONE nomination this year. In fact, there was only ONE nomination (amongst the main categories) for a minority, with Hailee Steinfeld.

The only thing said by that guy that was slightly racist was choosing not to include all minorities, but instead just limiting it to Black Actors.

Do you even know what you are talking about? Just because our President is half Black does not erase the fact that Blacks are still a minority in America. Blacks are and always have been a minority.

The straight, white male is the only group that is not a minority.

I'd suggest looking up the term racist. I am not personally calling the Oscars racist, but having Black winners in the past does not excuse them of being so.
