Hmm, I'll admit he has some catchy songs. And his singles do very well. But every single solitary time I've seen him perform it's been horrendous. I think he sounded decent one time I think it was DWTS.
The only negative aspect with Jason is he's not really memorable. When dancing he's always going to be compared to Chris, which is a battle he's going to always lose IMO, and singing...well I'm not sure he's ever been compared to another singer, ultimately though, he just hasn't had his "it" moment yet.
I honestly think Bieber blowing up has taken away from all of the artists who were....well, compared w/ and supposed to replace and be the "next" Chris Brown although it's not even really about him so don't think I'm shading him because of that (why don't people ever say the next Usher???). He and his writing team have done a good job of writing some good songs (better than most of the other pop/R/B guys-don't ever repeat to anyone I'm admitting this lol) but I honestly don't think he's gonna blow up until he crosses over to the R/B market (I feel the same about flo-rida). Their pop audience will support itunes singles but w/ no real rap/hiphop/r/b base they won't ever sell albums well or get that mass appeal. And I'm basing my opinion on clips of performances I've seen posted on blogs. Vocals a mess, out of breath dancing, just an overall try to hard mess.
Should be interesting to see if he's a one album wonder or not.... Bruno Mars seemed to take up a large portion of the market Derulo is after. I wish him all the best!

Nailed it. I have no idea what this guy is like. Most other pop stars we have some idea or think we have some idea as to what they're like. But his music last era seemed to be run of the mill manufactured euro pop. Hopefully he can branch out and show some more personality this time around. He also needs to perform at the VMAs this year. If he's a good performer that will only help him stick around.
Any news on a single release? Who's the working with on the record?
All that's been said so far is that he's going to release the TITLE soon, and that J.R. Rotem is going to involved, and that's who produced his first album.
