Debbie Gibson
I can't even explain what this girl has done to me in the last couple of months.
Let me educate you:
She was a Pop Teen Sensation in the 80's. I would consider her the Princess of Pop at her peak.
-Exploded on the pop music scene at the tender age of 16.
-A music prodigy, she quickly became the youngest person ever to write, produce and perform a number one single, ("Foolish Beat"), a record she still holds today in the Guinness Book of World Records.
-Gibson has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide.
- She is considered the "Original Pop Princess"
-She recorded her debut album
Out of the Blue (1987) in 4 weeks. It spawned 4 top 5 hits on the billboard hot 100:
- Only In My Dreams (debut single, and my anthem)
- Shake Your Love
- Out of the Blue
- Foolish Beat (reached #1 on hot 100)
- By the end of 1988, Out of the Blue had gone triple platinum.
-The Out Of The Blue music videos on VHS was certified platinum by the RIAA, as well as Live In Concert "The Out of The Blue tour VHS video was certified 2x platinum by the RIAA.
-Throughout 1988 and early 1989, Gibson was racking up studio time recording her second album
Electric Youth( My favorite album by her).
-Electric Youth was released in March 1989, and spent five weeks at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart.
-The first single released, "Lost in Your Eyes", was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks, garnering Debbie with another achievement Electric Youth album and single "Lost In Your Eyes" simultaneously at #1.
-After that her following singles flopped and she became irrelevant.
I still love, love, love, her so much. If she only knew what her music has done to me.
Because of her I decided to give all of the 80s music another try, and I've found so many special gems.
Thank you Mrs. Gibson.
As real as it may seem it was only in my dreams.....
