ATRL: What factors do you think makes someone a good fan (or stan)

What do you all think are the factors that makes someone a good fan/stan? I hear so many people say: "I am a fan of [Insert Artist Name Here]" but then when you ask them do they even have one album by that artist they say NO. So I wanted to know what you girls thought, I know we have some MAJOR stans here, so let's discuss...

Being a person with open mind helps that kind of stuff plus being respectful as well.

Being supportive of the musician throughout their endeavors ignoring their personal issues. Being open minded, as Jimmy said, but not delusional. You should be able to admit when they mess up or when they haven't done their best.

Just like you wouldn't lie to a friend and say, you look great in that top, when in actual fact they kind of look like a muppet, even though you obviously don't get to tell your fave that.

Being able to realize when your fave does something that sucks (not being delusional)

A person who is able to be respectable to others opinions, and knows when to inject their own criticisim. They are open minded and know how to carry themselves as a STAN!

Being open to new decisions your fave makes, loving your fave from the beginning, not letting others change your opinion on your fave, liking other artists, and not just your fave, being able to state your fave's flaws, etc.

I think that it's a common misconception that to be a true stan/fan you must own everything that artist has even put out. CDs, DVDs, shirts, perfumes, magazines, books, bedding...whatever. When that isn't the case, some people just don't have that kind of money.

A true fan is someone who appreciates a musicians music, that is what it is all about. If you love the music and you support that artists music, you are a fan.

just understanding that not everyone is gonna like the artist you love. knowin' that you're still a fan even if you don't like everything they put out. also, not putting them above God. just knowing the balance. also, if you like their music, just support them. don't steal it.

i think that's a really good point you made. like if you really appreciate the work that your artist does, support them. my favorite singer is Brandy. even though she went through a lof of stuff in her past, i'll always support her because i like the work she puts out.

Off topic but: Speaking of that Hilary said in a recent interview that she should have an album out in one year. She said she really misses touring and she is quite nervous to start back with her music career. She said she is not satisfied with what she has done in the singing and acting world and she said she knows she has a lot to prove to people.

See I've heard her contradict herself so many times. She says she wants to do music one minute and then the next minute shes not into music at the moment.

It's annoying for her fans. Metamorphosis was literally my first favorite album and in my opinion she has never given us a bad song. Therefore I need more. I need more mature Hilary. She grew up with us.
