She was an Hollywood actress, of a fame that is not comparable to anyone today, not even Angelina Jolie... she was also one of the most beautiful women on earth, with a voluptous body. Madonna took inspiration from her for her hit "Material Girl", for her Blond Ambition tour, her role in Dick Tracy, and overall for her image during her career. Madonna is not quite as beautiful as Marilyn... of course Gaga is not quite as beautiful as Madonna or even myself, let alone Marilyn

That was a few years of her career where she had a Marylin obsession. You are talking about a small percentage of her lengthy legendary career.

I'm not a big fan of GaGa but I sort of think the Madge fans are out of line on this one. No matter how phenomenal she was and still is, every generation needs their own pop icons. When a person is born, that's where their observations on the world begin and it doesn't really matter what happened in the past because chances are no one will point out to them that it's all been done before and they will accept whatever they're seeing in the moment as being authentic and fresh.

Basically, history repeats itself, ideas get recycled.
