In the eyes of the Grammy voters there's a stigma hanging over everything Ke$ha does because she is so readily identified as this trashy, crude, drunken pop star. It's impossible for certain voters to maintain an objective view of the work of a girl like Ke$ha. Utimately, the fear that honoring her with a nomination will somehow affect the respectability of the Grammys, or the idea that her irreverent persona negates the quality of her work, will win out over brilliant pop singles like "Tik Tok". In this sense, the tracks and albums she releases will be held to a different standard than say, Katy Perry, who's work is arguably around the same level as Ke$ha's (if not worse) but somehow more "respectable" because her image is a little bit more cleaned up and not nearly as polarizing. With "Teenage Dream" Katy Perry gave us sexy, trashy, pop music done in a way that didn't offend too many people and was just popular (because popularity is a HUGE aspect in the pop-focused awards and sometimes in categories like ROTY/AOTY) enough that they knew she had to be nominated.
I think the same thing that plagues Ke$ha, also applies to the general view of Britney in the Grammy world, though in a slightly different way. Britney's work is forever seen as lo-brow bubblegum because she's the sexy, blonde, pop princess. Despite the fact that a lot of her work has been consistently better than that of her peers and has been just as well-recieved critically (if not better received), she's still not likely to get nominated for the "big name awards" because there's still that underlying feeling that her work is somehow inferior. They have no qualms throwing her a bone in the dance category cause nobody pays attention to it. Why bother to nominate her elsewhere when they can play it safe and not have to worry about their credibility by giving Beyonce her 27th Grammy for a mediocre album/single. I think Britney's people realize this, and to me, that sort of explains why they've never been that concerned about submitting her for certain categories or campaigning for her. The sad thing is, I think if Britney did ever win an ROTY Grammy or anything of that nature, the backlash would be insane. People hold onto this silly notion that the Grammys are an exercise in awarding quality, and that Britney is incapable of producing quality work. Neither of these things are true, but the skepticism surrounding her is rich and prevents many people from recognizing her greatness.

Your writing is so on point. I'm jealous.

This might seem a little corny to say but Britney Spears helped my English. . When I was 7 the only English words I spoke were "Hello. I am fine. I am from Yemen." And then I remember Baby One More Time came on TV, which was a rare thing 10 years ago in the Middle East, and my mom told me that's Britney News. She thought her name was Britney News because when she was in Lebanon there was Britney News on TV and she thought that was her name. Then I bought Baby One More Time and started mumbling the words, I didn't know any single word, except for Baby one more time, and give me, I didn't know what sign was or any ****. It was the first English CD I bought, then my mother bought me Backstreet Boys and many more, and I started learning basic words, by that time I asked my mom to send me to an English school, and I proceeded with my English. Only 0.5% of the whole Yemeni population speaks fluent English.

Well said. But after all, Britney helped create the image the voting mummies have of her.
Anyway, Britney joins legends like Madonna and Mariah Carey who the Grammys snub.

We all know Blackout deserved noms. But JIVE didn't submit it.
They're always the ones to blame!

That's so true.
And the Grammy they finally gave them wasn't even for their best work IMO (that Would be Butterfly / Charmbracelet & Erotica / Bedtime Stories).

Remember that the Grammys like to play catch up and reward artists that have been in the business a long time. Britney hasn't been nominated in a while (except for Womanizer), and since then more and more commercial acts have won and have been nominated for the big ones. If there is an artist that they owe debt to, that would be Britney. Also, even though Britney lost BNA, they tend to reward former losers with a lot of wins and nominations later on (Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Lady Antebellum, John Mayer, Dixie Chicks, Green Day... I COULD GO ON) than even the actual winners themselves. If Britney is going to get rewarded and showered with Grammys one day, it will be for this album. But she has to promote it because the votes like to see artists work hard and believe in their work (see: Katy Perry).

Since Loui said his Britney story I'll say mine
I'll shorten it since it's a little long.
well, in the year 2000 I got a CD Player as a birthday gift from my Grandma, and I loooved it, but I had no CD. So my dad took me to a CD store and I was looking around and 3 albums caught my eye: Oops! I did It Again, one from JLo and one from Eminem. I was soo undecisive cause my dad told me I could only pick one, so I asked him which one would he pick and he's like "the blonde girl's very beautiful, and your cousin likes her" and I'm like, yeah, I heard her on the radio the other day. And I took the OIDIA album. THAT's how a became part of this wonderful Stan Army

I think its going to be fun to see how we all got to be stans before the Legendary video premieres. Great story, Hec.
Actually, I made a mistake with my previous post, I bought a cassette, not a CD. I had a walkman back in the day.

I can't picture myself as a JLo stan.
I love Eminem though
oh, I remember that when I was 10, they took my CD Player in school (cellphones, cd players, etc aren't allowed in the school I went to) and the OIDIA CD was in it, I almost DIED when they took it away from me, I started crying and the Principal's like wtf, then she opened the CD Player and she's like "oh Britney, we meet again" with this devilish face. And the gave me back my CD Player like 5 months later. I can't believe I got through 5 months without any Britney other than MTV

Did someone post a fakeupdate on mediabase, or was that yesterdays ?
At least it gained spins on pop, hopefully it can go back in power on some of the big stations soon.
It's funny how even tho it's not doing amazing on radio atm, it's still her second biggest radio hit overall.

Grammys are a year away so lets not worry about those for now. Right now I'm concerned with the radio updates and promo. While I'm sure the video will help a good amount she really needs to do at least one performance sometime this month.
