That's the problem. I do agree that in general it is a gay-sounding song, but mainly because of the disco influence and that genre's historical associations, but the message is still universal, even if it feels more applicable in this day and age to certain subsets of the general population.
The "don't be a drag, just be a queen" is not directed solely to the gay community, it's a message of self-empowerment that's directed to everybody. The terms obviously have a greater association with the gay community, but her intent is to turn them on their head slightly through the double meaning.
