The phillipino vocal powerhouse had released two albums in the Phillipines, which both of them reached platinum status there. She then appeared in several talk shows in America like Ellen and Oprah, where she was finally discovered and picked up by hitman David Foster, who took her under his wing. Her self-titled debut album was released May 11, 2010 and reached Gold status in Japan since then. It peaked at #8 in the U.S. and #4 in Canada. The first single from the album, Pyramid achieved moderate succes around the world and managed to get her first #1 at the Billboard Hot Dance Club Chart. She would continue to go on tour with David Foster, release a christmas EP before the end of 2010 and appear in the extremely successful TV show "Glee", where she has yet to finish her guest role in another 5-6 episodes. She also recently hit the #1 spot in the Japan Billboard Hot 100 with her collaboration with Unique - Wherever You Are. Charice is known for her extraordinary voice and her ability to copy the vocal techniques of her idols from Whitney Houston to Celine Dion, which she was instantly compared to.
In several interviews it was confirmed by her, that she started recording her second studio album. There aren't many details about the album yet, but she confirmed to have worked with Sean Garrett, and of course, David Foster. She also gave a little acapella preview from a new song she recently recorded. The second album will be a lot more dancier and faster than the first one. She also said that the music will be a lot more electronic. There will sure be some killer ballads, as well as dance-heavy tracks. Her voice has improved extremely much since last year and she always continues to get better, because she's only 18 years old.
More than anything she needs to find a HIT. Like a real, very solid, very popular HIT. She isn't Susan Boyle...she can't sell a bunch of albums just based on talk shows etc
I am rooting for her...I think Asians are underrepresented in the USA and I am always open to another stellar vocalist!

Her debut album had many songs that were hits waiting to happen. The problem is that she has yet to come out of her shell and show the world out there what a huge vocal range and personality she has. On the one hand her label gave her nice polished bubblegum pop songs (Pyramid, Reset, I Love You) and on the other hand they gave her really good adult contemporary songs (The Truth Is, In This Song, Note To God). The second album now will show if she can establish her in the worldwide music market or not.
Anyway, I can imagine that she will promote her single firstly at Oprah and then release the lead single and album around when she has her guest appearances on Glee.
I really liked her debut. In This Song, Nobody's Singing to Me, I Did It For You and of course Note to God >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
With this upcoming album, I hope she sings songs that are more age appropriate. Some of the songs on her last album were too mature for someone her age.

It's the other way around for me. Some songs were too childish in my eyes, that could stand her calibre of vocal talent.
I'm sorry but she is boring. I mean she can sing, but she should change her Image or something. She doesn't have to dress trashy, but more grown up. She dresses like a little Kid.

Pyramid made a bit of an impact worldwide at least, that's some major achievement there. I believe she's already sold more than a 100,000 copies in Japan. What's her worldwide total? I am guessing somewhere between 350-450k? Can anyone confirm this thanks? Also her US total?
They already announced the Glee Tour in America and she's not there so I don't think so.
I think she will be very busy at that time, because she confirmed that the new single will be released when she concluded her guest appearances on glee. But this is quite clever, because people will talk about her and see her on television. I bet she will perform the new single on Oprah and it should see some success for sure.

There are no exact sale figures as of yet, but I think it has sold around 500k copies worldwide. But that's just my guess. The album is still selling good in Japan and the Philippines, it's not all said and done, especially because when she releases her new album and it's a worldwide succes, that would give her debut album another boost (look at Adele).
