This post was cute, Patrick. But, no. I listened to the song on repeat for a good 45 minutes to an hour this morning. I understand where you are coming from and what you are trying to do for the single, but the big picture is... there's nothing revolutionary here. There's not much that sounds like this on the radio right now, primarily because the sound is dated. So, although there may be a couple "quirky little samples" here and there, it doesn't take away from the fact that "Born This Way," the single declared to change pop music, was instead, a subpar rehash of a cross-section of 80's hits.

I feel you. There are some distinct 80s influences here, and in that way it can be related and compared to a lot of other songs, both from the 80s and later. I don't necessarily think this is pop-music-changing material, but at the same that one could argue that this is a generic rehashing of older songs, it can also be argued that because this retro element also separates this track from most other current releases because they have a very now-centric sound that I don't really identify with the 80s or any other decade. For what it's worth, I feel like the 80s revival sort of reached it's peak somewhere in the mid 00s and fizzled out from there, if someone was to revisit the idea 5-6 years later it wouldn't strike me as an attempt to jump onto a trend.
We'll agree to disagree, I suppose. And just so there's no confusion, my post wasn't directed specifically at Vin or anybody else.
