First of all, "Telephone" and "Alejandro" were great. I don't think anything could have made them look bad, per say, not even "Bad Romance."
But you want to release a strong single
before an album's release or people won't want to buy it. Hence, pitiful sales for Black Eyed Peas'
The Beginning.
Those songs were no where near as risky as Born This Way
