The brilliance of this song lies in its lyrical content. I don't see why the people who are constantly criticising it don't get that.

I can't wait to hear the whole album! But I'm really surprised she chose this as her first single. "Bad Romance," for example, blew everything out of the water. Considering how much she has been hyping up Born This Way, I was expecting something completely different -- from everything else on pop radio and from her previous songs.

She said she wanted to write an inspirational anthem about many things, but chiefly a gay anthem. And she didn't recoil at that and use metaphors to mask and skirt around the issue. She said, plain as day, no matter if you're GAY, STRAIGHT, OR BI, LESBIAN, TRANSGENDERED LIFE. I mean when people saw those lyrics on GagaDaily their jaws dropped. Mine did.

I feel like she mainly wanted to release Born This Way first not because it was strategically the best song to sell albums, but because it was the song she had the most passion for. So, I don't expect BTW to be the best track, like many thought about Bad Romance.
