"I feel like I'm at a point in my life right now where I could potentially stick around. I don't feel like a diva, but I think diva is a great and powerful word in the sense of what Beyonce makes it. And maybe I can't be Beyonce, but maybe I can be Cyndi Lauper. I mean be like her, not be her. That would just be weird."
I like Katy's music but I really think you need strong vocals to earn the title of diva. How successful will she be once the pop music tides change and her cookie-cutter choruses are over?
EDIT: Before I get attacked, I'm not "pressed" or "mad" I am being serious. Beyonce, Mariah, Whitney each had THE MOST amazing vocals (Whitney now )

Katy, like any other pop star, will need to adapt in order to stay big and relevant.
Mariah changed drastically over a long period (starting as early as 1994)....
Whitney changed.
Beyonce changed....
Everybody changes. Or needs to if he wants to stay relevant.
Please don't compare Debbie and Cyndi. Cyndi was a pretty important figure in 80s pop music, Debbie never really was (at lest not to the same extent). And what's more, Debbie Gibson and people like Tiffany had primarily teeny-bopper notoriety. Cyndi's appeal wasn't so specific and she was a bit more respected as an artist than either of those two.

And songs like True Colors or Time After Time crossed over really well and still stand the test of time.
I could never forgive her for all the Gaga shade + homophobia that she keeps oh so cleverly hidden, but I hope she sticks around. Katy has great music.
