But what should those girls make of the "S&M" video? In the Melina Matsoukas directed piece, Rihanna institutes payback to sensationalistic reporters, enslaving offenders in a torture chamber, tying them with rope, gagging them, and whipping another. Elsewhere, media villain Perez Hilton poses as a dog on a leash..
Rihanna is both victim and perpetrator here. But is this message empowering? Does it advocate fighting back? Or is it just titillating in the same sense of Lady Gaga's homicide-themed "Paparazzi" or Katy Perry's gratuitous "California Gurls" videos?.
There is a conflict between the messages Rihanna conveys in her music and the press. It would be great if she made an uplifting song of triumph. But the angst-fueled songs appear to be a part of her healing..
Hopefully, she'll eventually move beyond this dark stage..
People are always going to use the incident against her. I can't @ the overanalyzing of this video, it's about sex & media, as simple as that
But I do thank them for taking the time to give Rih some free promo. I wish I had a blog...I'd write about how disgusting it was that Rih wasted those bananas (since she said she spit 'em out between takes). How dare she waste food!

There are plenty of people who consentually engage in pseudo-torture and S&M practices but we don't punish them for abusing each other (generally because this stuff doesn't get to the point that anyone is physically injured by it) and we certainly don't make the accusation that these people endorse domestic violence.

Total BS!!! They mad that Rihanna made all the media look like fools, she made them actually see how the **** they say about her is pointless, its not making her loose no sleep at night!
