You CHOOSE your pace and your life in LA. You create it. You are forced into a particular lifestyle in NY.
Not totally, I was in LA for a month and could not really walk around except for the obvious spots, The Grove, etc. You need a car to get around. It's a laid back city and that is one of the great things about it IMO. If you stay in for a day living in NY you sometimes can't help but feel like a bum looking out the window.
LA is great if you like labels, commercial everything, slow-paced life, Hollywood, lifestyle, etc
New York is more edgy, FASHION FORWARD, cultured, YOU CAN WALK AROUND , discovering things, lights, unique and different people, etc.
I LOVE going for walks in Los Angeles.... it may not be very pedestrian friendly, but I still love it. The best part is I can do it year round without the worry of snow.

YUP!!!
I loved walking around the Beverly Hills area I stayed in West Hollywood so it was an easy walk (because I'm a New Yorker) but some thought I was cray-cray It did feel weird thought because I was the only one walking.... like WTF.... and I walked New York style like I was in a rush or something lol

Haha I love that about NY. I like moving FAST and i'm a really impatient person. I can't stand it when someone in front of me walks like they have a load in their pants. Life in general is fast paced in the tri-state area.

I walked almost everywhere when I was there, and yeah I got some crazy looks too. I also loved hiking through Griffith Park. The impressive views of the city were worth the hike too.
