It wasn't possible to do a song like this without being corny. It is what it is. Lyrics can only take a song so far, I'm not going to judge it until I hear it. We have no idea what it's going to be like. Would you have liked Bad Romance if you were given a copy of its lyrics before its première? I don't think many people would.

Seriously this. Music can elevate material so much or just make it laughable.
Either way, I'm much more hopeful seeing it all in context than I was with the individual snippets.
