I think they also should have tried to go for Rated R in Contemporary R&B Album. They probably would have moved it over if they didn't consider it R&B. Wouldn't have won, but it's a much less competitive category than Pop Vocal Album.

It would have been the same as going up against Adele, Sara Bareilles, Duffy, etc. in Female Pop Vocal. The difference is the better likelihood of getting a nod in R&B.

I still say Photographs should have been submitted there and Rockstar to Urban/Alternative.

She will win for Only Girl, and then will win for the music video.

I still think its jushow Def Jam handled the Rated R era. leaving great songs like Photographs unreleased. Photographs would have been a contender had it been released. FireBomb as well would have been great for Best female Pop. I guess we will just put our trust in Loud to give her her first solo grammy. hope OG wins.

And "Photographs" is a great song, but it's far too similar to Cheryl Cole's "3 Words." No wonder though, it's will.i.am we're talking about.

"Cold Case Love" is beyond amazing, I will never forgive Def Jam for not releasing it. It would have made a better first single than "Russian Roulette" too.

Cold Case Love is THEEE ballad of Rated R. I dont think it would have worked as 1st single maybe the 4th single. Photographs may not be innovative but it was catchy while still talking about the hardships she faced.

3rd single Rude Boy
4th Cold Case Love
5th Photographs

I doubt "Photographs" would have been nominated for Pop Collaboration. "OMG" was rightfully snubbed, so "Photographs" would be snubbed too. It wasn't a single, which would have hurt its chances more.

"Rockstar 101" would have been snubbed in Urban/Alternative. The voters there do not pick on name recognition. If they don't think your record sounds like it belongs there, they won't vote for it. Beyonce submitted "Scared of Lonely" there and was snubbed.

But Scared Of Lonely is not urban/Alternative.

Rockstar 101 being a dubstep-like track was more effective.

I doubt it would have made a difference but Rih could have gotten into R&B easier this year with no bey nor Alicia.

Scared of Lonely isn't Urban/Alternative though. It should have been submitted to Female Pop or Female R&B. Rockstar 101 wouldn't work in Pop Collab, R&B Duo, Rock Duo, or Rap Duo. Urban/Alternative would have been the best bet for that song.

Look at what they were nominated against and the fact that it was the year of "The Swift."

This year, you have three hits from top 40 artists and two non-hits from respected vets. The competition is different.

All minus Short Form Video and maybe Album of the Year, but I dunno. Eminem's a favorite this year, so I wouldn't be too surprised if he beat out Gaga.
