Not really! Several critics have had glowing reviews for "Hold It Against Me" and the single is exploding all over the world, in several countries. Not to mention, it's setting radio records which is unheard of for Britney. She is someone who has been blacklisted by Clearchannel on radios nationwide, and has also suffered charted poorly on the Hot 100 for not being a cross-formatted artist. The only thing this "controversy" is doing, is building the generated buzz around the new single to an increased state.

People will form their own opinions on the subject no matter what the Britney camp will say. If people don't favor her, then more than likely they'll maintain that negative perception they may have of her and the situation at hand. It is what is though!

This happens with almost EVERY song nowadays. I'm not surprised. Everyone thinks that anything new is a rip-off of something old. I don't really see the similarities between Britney's song and these country singers' song, other than the obvious phrase. But if someone released a song called "I Love You", would we accuse them of ripping someone off (because that title has been used a million times before)? No, probably not. I remember when "I Kissed A Girl" came out and people accused Katy of copying that 90's song with the same title, but there were really no similarities. Just because a title/phrase is the same, doesn't mean it's a rip-off. Plus, even if it was, you can't accuse Britney of anything since she didn't write the song.
