Rat boards NYC train, crawls on passengers

January 14, 2011 (NEW YORK CITY) (WLS) -- You've heard of snakes on a plane, how about rats on the train!

A sleepy passenger riding in the subway got a rude awakening when a rodent hopped a free ride on an overnight route in New York.

The bold creature was jumping all over the car and even took a snooze on a tired man's lap.

Another passenger recorded the incident on his pocket camera, while others scrambled to get away from the rat as it bolted around.

Some passengers switched train cars, but no one saw the rat ever get off the train.

He could still be joy-riding through the subway!

Those New Yorkers are horrible!!! They just sat there & let that rat crawl on the man & The other guy just lift his foot up & let the rat pass as if it was normal. I would've went to the next cart...ewww!! I Never take the subway, Thank God!!!

And I thought the DC trains were bad...

When I was in the NYC last year, I rode the trains...a lot! I've heard about them, but never saw one, thank goodness. If I did, I'd have to change clothes.

I get scared of loose rats in the subway though haha. If i saw it on the train i would have fainted, it happened before
