Besides, so far it is only affecting select species and isn't affecting Europe. **** around with the environment enough and it will bite back.
With the way it is happening it is more than likely a toxic gas that is in the atmosphere and has diffused into the ocean, if they can find the gas and the source of the gas it should stop. It could also be completely natural, gas bubbles or a massive gas bubble being released from the ocean floor...could be due to the movement of tectonic plates as it has happened in a few different places at once. Things like this have happened before, doesn't make it any less horrible though.

It was none of these. As pointed out, it was in a specific species. If it was any of these, other species would have been effected.
For someone who studies it as their speciality, you missed out on the most obvious fact of the case
