Florence talks new album and possible Kanye collaboration

Florence Welch was recently featured in SPIN Magazine’s Best of 2010 issue where she gave readers a hint of what was to come next for her and her band. SPIN featured the frontwoman of Florence + The Machine in a fascinating light speaking on Florence’s seemingly contradictory personality claiming to be shy and insecure, but at the same time has much of her success due to courageous moves such as singing an Etta James cover for Kate Nash in a club and more.
While Florence admitted that she had planned to take the second half of 2010 off, but after having a huge placement in the Julia Roberts film Eat Pray Love and then a show-stopping performance as the then-unknown indie band at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards leading to quadrupling her US record sales of her 2009 debut album Lungs.
Yet 2011 is still looking to be the year that we come to hear new music from Florence and her band. In addition to creating a “brassy version” cover of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away” for an upcoming tribute album Florence spoke about the sound of her new album saying the material is:
Spacey, dancing, with crunchier electronic sounds. The first album is quite ethereal. I think this one will be tough.
While the material of Lungs was amazing enough, going in this new direction could actually make her music even better. You don’t really beat music like “Raise It Up (Rabbit Heart)” or “Drumming Song,” but if anyone can do it, its going to be Florence.
The red-haired beauty also gave further insight to her love of urban music (she covered the Mario Winans/P. Diddy collaboration “I Don’t Want To Know” on Billboard, watch the performance under the cut) by revealing she’s currently in the process of trying to must up the courage to make a collaboration with Kanye West happen. Florence spoke about how the two have been e-mailing and she hopes to eventually ask to have him helpfinish an “epic, goth, hip-hop song” that she’s been working on with her keyboard player Isabella Summers.
While signs are currently pointing that the new album will come this year, there could still be success to milk out of Lungs especially in the US. Yet Florence may look to have a proper huge release of her new album and have the entire world listening instead of the different territories discovering Flo + The Machine at separate times.

I'm a little surprised, but Florence new album is one of my most anticipated albums... And, well it kinda worked the Flo-Dizzee collaboration so it may be pretty good.. I can't wait for it
I can't wait for her next record. I played Lungs so much during its first year and I did eventually get sick of it... But it's been a long time now so I'm eager for new material.
