Well I agree with you that it sounds summery, and if it were to be released that would be the ideal time for it.
But I still don't think it makes a plausible single cause the backlash would be ridiculous. You know some Keeping Kids Sheltered advocacy group would raise a huge stink about all the gun and death references. Dumb ****s can't read between the lines and take everything at face value, so obviously Rihanna is singing about a literal assassination. All the edits they'd have to do for the radio if they couldn't even handle her talking about putting a figurative gun to a man's head and figuratively putting him out of his misery in "Unfaithful"...
But aside from that, I just don't like the track and I feel like Rihanna just sort rambles on and on throughout it and never takes us anywhere.
I think you are right, it might be successful on Urban, but that's the only place I see it being successful. I need Rihanna to continue that string of #1s which rely heavily on that pop appeal.
