Both are pretty unique, in my opinion. But I voted for Rihanna, because when you hear a Rihanna song on the radio, you'll almost immediately recognize her voice. Gwen's voice is pretty memorable as well, especially in No Doubt songs, but it's not as recognizable. I do love Gwen's music though. Now if you're asking who has more vocal talent, then it's definitely Gwen, hands down. Her voice is so beautiful and powerful.

I think people are letting things other than uniqueness cloud their judgment... Haha. If we're going with unique I have to say Rihanna. I'm very good at picking out people's voices in songs, even when they sound like other artists, but there's NEVER any doubt with Rihanna.

This was really hard but I voted Gwen. She does certain things with her voice that are just out there (if you own LAMB or WYWF? you may know what I'm talking about)
I associate Gwen with an all-around uniqueness that works extremely well. She kinda lost the uniqueness during TSE though.

I knew the moment I heard Emergency Room that it wasn't Rihanna. People who don't listen closely assume songs are sang by whoever it says sings them on a blog or YouTube, but if they listen closely they can tell. Priscilla Renea, because she was recording a demo to present to Rihanna for inclusion on an album, tried to copy Rihanna's vocal styling as closely as possible (as she made clear when telling people it was her and NOT Rihanna), but she still sounded different.
There were people who used to compare Gwen and Lady GaGa in GaGa's early days, and even people who used to think GaGa WAS Gwen on the radio (idk... don't ask, lol). But there are definitely certain similarities between their voices at times (though they definitely sound very different most of the time).
