At first glance we thought this was Avril Lavigne, but even Avril isn't as awkward on the red carpet as Swift is. We're not sure what was going through Taylor's mind when she put on this bedazzled dress and straightened her hair, but we're sure she'll write a song about it.

This ensemble was what Tim Gunn was thinking about when he said "a whole lot of look." It's sheer lace pants with a black leotard and a bejeweled "jacket" and some sort of alien sculpture growing out of her shoulder.

Not one, but two bad looks in one night! That's actually a fairly impressive feat. The revealing crystallized dress is far less ugly than the chartreuse nightmare, but the blue wig really doesn't do either number any favors. Nor does her habit to stand with her toes pointed inward.

Worst: Mariah Carey at the Independent Spirit Awards
Her too-short, too-revealing dresses are an awards show "Worst Dressed" staple. The unique thing about this outfit is that photographers were able to capture those rare times Carey wasn't sucking in, resulting in a clear view of what we're assuming is a Spanx malfunction. She has a great figure, so we're not sure why she can't dress it up nicely.

We honestly wish we could have just had this shot from the shoulders up. Because she actually looks kinda decent… for Britney. The rest can't even be called an outfit. It's just a mesh leotard over some Spanx or something.

Poor Rihanna. Did no one ever tell her that she's occasionally allowed to wear clothing that's remotely comfortable? This structured gown looks painful around the neck, even with the downy feathers, and the bottom gives her enormous hips. No one needs that. Nor do they need the baggy butt action that is happening.

Even Nicki seems shocked by what she's wearing, or upset that someone dipped her hair in green ink right before she hit the red carpet. Was she going for Egyptian goddess with all the gold embellishments? If so, maybe she shouldn't have put the entire contents of the King Tut exhibit on one dress.

The birthday girl looked very lovely in this navy Oscar de la Renta gown that had just the right amount of poof and frills. It is a very delicate balance. And love the hair down, it's young and refreshing
