Jason DeRulo. He's not a ONE hit wonder, but he's probably one of those flash-in-the-pan artists that nobody really knows about but somehow ends up sweeping in a couple hits. I get the feeling we won't be hearing much about him in the next few years.

That is an example of what I originally thought a one-hit wonder was: an artist who releases an album and has several hits, then a sophomore release would slump. But I guess what I was thinking was a sophomore slump.

The Ready Set is a contender for being a one-hit wonder, sadly.
And the funny part is that no one even liked her "hit". Everyone I know hated it and screamed when it came on the radio. They just played it so much on the radio so it charted semi well.
I know plenty of people who liked "According to You." Speak for yourself.
Band Perry released three single and one of the single was released last year.
they released 2 singles! Hip To My Heart which released last year and flopped and If I Die Young this year! their third single will be released in january so they are not exactly one hit wonders because they released only one song this year!
I would disagree. "Your Love" went to #14, "Check It Out" went to #24 and "Right Thru Me" is currently at #26 on the Hot 100. YL and RTM also both reached the top 5 of both the U.S. rap and R&B charts (including a stint at #1 for YL on Hot Rap Songs). Her featured spots -- including "My Chick Bad," "Bottoms Up" and "Monster" -- have done quite well. And she's got huge album sales right now also.
Um what? @ People calling Posner, Far East Movement one hit wonders. Do you pay attention?
Also kinda hard to believe that The Ready Set will be a one-hit wonder when he just tweeted that he's working with The Cataracs. I'm pretty sure a hit will come out of those sessions. Plus MTV is backing him like crazy.
One-hit wonders have sort of transformed into singles artists IMO. You have Jason Derulo, Jay Sean, Taio Cruz, and Flo Rida for example who can have a hit single, but no hit album thus fading into obscurity as the one-hit wonders did in the past. Also, and as much as I hate to say this, AI winners, runner-ups, contestants usually are subjected to the one-hit wonder category. After their first "hit", which is used very loosely, album they're usually never heard of again. Unless you're Kelly, Carrie, and in some circumstances Fantasia, you're pretty much dead weight in the AI category.

No, what you were thinking of was a one-album wonder. Someone like an Alanis with JLP or Avril with Let Go would qualify - nothing they did ever matched the success of their peak.
- Auburn(was la la la even a hit?)
- Sean Kingston (He can thank Nicki Minaj for even having a hit this year)
- Trey Songz (He usually has one big hit per album. He can also thank Nicki)
And stop naming people who are just featured on songs. Some don't have an album out so they don't really apply.

Sorry but Sean Kingston or Trey Songz not one hit wonder.
Sean Kingston had a #1 before and Trey Songz had other hits.
