She led the way for female artists to break out, and none of them as successful. Her impact was very strong when she debuted.

Her impact was big, but just as Britney stans insist on belittling Gaga's accomplishments, it's easy to bring down Britney from her stan-imposed legend throne: serviceable pop songs, lypsynching controversies, fans walking out of concerts, breakdowns, etc. etc.
As for her mix of sex and controversy with music, to quote Britney stans: Madonna did it first.

I'll have to disagree with you though. Gaga's music is clearly different from Ke$ha's. And Gaga has paved the way for Ke$ha....
|
Ok maybe I want a lil too far saying all of her music was similar... but Ke$ha's and Gaga's singles have been generic. (Yeah that is today's formula but come on Gaga needs some kind of ballad)
Poker Face, Just Dance and Tik Tok, We R Who We R are alike.
The difference is that Gaga has a fantastic voice

I have yet to see you make a real solid statement.

Make a solid statement for what? Prove that Britney had a impact in pop music???
Sorry i'm not here to teach y'all about the most basic thing. If you don't know this use Google or get a time machine

I've honestly seen no one belittle GaGa in this thread, which is why I asked earlier why there was a fight. I've only seen people say she isn't a legend. Anyone who said her impact isn't great, well they are being delusional.
As far as your bring-downs, a breakdown couldn't skew impact. Fans walking out of concerts, thats still a questionable argument from one concert in Australia. Lip-syncing belittles her performance skills as of lately. Serviceable pop songs is one I definitely don't agree, at least not before Circus. Britney makes her songs what they are. Unless you're talking during the impact stage, which even then Britney songs were Britney songs.

Gaga has just as big as an impact yes. But Britney did pave the way for Gaga. Even Blackout paved the way for Gaga. I don't agree with the other stans about Belittling Gaga because clearly she has a future ahead for her.

Releasing a ballad nowadays will most certainly end up becoming a flop.
Of course there are some exceptions but ballads usually don't do well in the current industry.

No offense but thats how u become a big popstar... Generic, and catchy... all Gaga's singles are like that, and all Britney's SONGS are like that...
I agree 100%.. i wish gagas music WASNT soo generic.. she riding the britney wave YES I SAID IT.. Britney influenced modern pop, im not delusional
Thats why fan favorites like DITD were NOT chosen as singles cuz it would have flopped for NOT being generic
Bad Romance was the perfect hybrid of Mainstream and Non Mainstream sound IMO and the only Gaga single that wasnt 100% generic

The difference is that Gaga has been progressing though. You are comparing singles Ke$ha made long after Gaga released those singles.
And in Gaga's defense, she really did want to release Speechless. You could tell. She was promoting that song all over when the Fame Monster came out. But it's obvious that her label wanted to keep going with the dance pop hits and get more smashes. It makes sense since she was getting top ten hit after top ten hit.

You are convinced Britney's impact was way bigger than Lady Gaga's, yet you didn't really made a solid statement or provided arguments.
The only thing you did was calling people delusional when their opinion didn't match yours.

Actually Speechless was planned to be released after Alejandro. But they decided it's better to take a break which its smart.

I know, that's why I said it's today's formula but I for myself would like to see a Gaga successful ballad, I really loved "Speechless"

I obviously know Ke$ha came after Gaga, but to me in that topic I just find Gaga's music "fun" just like Ke$ha's, Katy's, etc...

Britney pulled some successful ballads, for example "Everytime" was a #1 Worldwide smash
Bad Romance
I agree with the first paragraph but some artists that started with generic, catchy, fun songs then pulled some successful ballads, the only exception I find with this are Whitney and Mariah.
but YEAH! it's so hard for ballads to be successful in these times.

Honestly I believe Britney and Gaga have had the same huge impact in the beginning of their careers
The only difference is that Britney did in ways pave the way for Gaga which is what sets her ahead a little bit

Britney leaded pop music and the way it was made for this whole decade, and influenced all the following artist, including your very own Lady Gaga.
If Gaga do better than that, then her impact will be bigger.

I know this is off topic but I am curious as how your username came to be. I always thought it came from Piece Of Me but then one day I looked at the day you joined in early 06...

Exactly. What sets Britney ahead is the face that she cleared way for Gaga

It is from "Piece of Me". We used to be able to change usernames up until late 2007-early 2008, which at that point I decided to keep this.
