Mellowing down off their high for their critically acclaimed and party bumpin' album
Elephunk, the Peas come back for more on the Chinese New Year driven
Monkey Business. The title for the album is more than appropiate as this LP ranges from funktified "They Don't Want Music" to surfboard classic "Pump It". Sophomore flop what? Those words don't exist in critiquing this one-of-a-kind album.
"Don't Phunk (Mess) With My Heart" gets the ball rollin' on the list of singles. Commanding to not 'phunk with my heart', Fergie and Will.I.Am go back to back as Will.I.Am pleads that he would never do such a devious deed as leading on such a wonderful woman.
Monkey Business offers a plethera of favorite songs, such as "My Style". This Timbaland-produced banga' features the heartthrob Justin Timberlake as hook boy, while Apl.de and Will rip it up comparing their style to Rocky (the boxer) and face time on magazine stands.
"Don't Lie" (the rumored 2nd single) again serves up the Will.I.Am/Fergie combo where they are following the acoustic guitar and heavily filled harmony hook of Fergie. A nice touch on the subject of relationships when they get dull and someone finds another hobby, resulting in the broken heart in a domino effect of mistrust and tears.
Are you asian, in particular Filipino? Well then, BEP, with the assistance of member Apl.de has prepared THE theme song for Filipino on "Bebot". Lovable, simple, lil' "Bebot", rapped completely in Filipino is a personal favorite of mine (although I'm not Filipino) lol
All in all, BEP came back for the second album (with Fergie) HARD! Not a fan? This album gives you a reason to be. Partier? This album will be you're anthem. Bored and tired? This album knocks your socks off and your ass into gear. You're fool not to have this iconic disc in your collection. "I'mma make make make you work, make you work work, make you work" on making this one a personal favorite.
