Each update I'll post 3 albums that made an impression on me for 2010, but didn't make the cut because either they didn't make enough impression OR I haven't listened to them enough to honestly add to them my list.
Sale El Sol, love me some Shakira and this album is seriously one of her bests. However, on a likability, only a few songs really do it for me. (Loca, Rabiosa, Addicted To You, Antes De Las Seis).
Free Wired, I first heard of them over the Summer randomly surfing YouTube. "Like A G6" was that song and now its a huge hit. This album is a really good party record, but not enough to make my list this year. A 2011 appearance is possible. (Like A G6, Girls On The Dance Floor, Rocketeer, Fighting For Air)
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, another great album for 2010. Again, I think this will be bigger for me next year. I've only listened to it once all the way through, and it is epic indeed. But not going to force it on my list to impress this year! (Monster, All Of The Lights, So Appalled, Hell Of A Life)
#12
Black Eyed Peas, The Beginning
It's very ironic that after listening to this album and Will revealed he had that ear-ringing disease, my ear's began ringing non-stop lately. I blame this album.
But, I can't help how much it has grown on me since first listen. People are quickly detesting it, but should really give it a chance. (maybe once they realize 'The Time' is a hit). I understand Dutchess Ferg isn't all over it, but you guys can stop being queens for an hour and enjoy it.
I also like this album more than The E.N.D. now. The production is way more wild, eccentric, and fun!
Fun Fact: Listen enough times, you realize Taboo IS still in the group.
Standouts: "The Time", "Someday", "Fashion Beats", "Don't Stop The Party", "Do It Like This", "The Situation", and "Phenomenon".
#11
John Mayer, Battle Studies
John Mayer is a talent. But his appreciation here is lower than expect, and that's beyond the Taylor fans who are still mad at him.
Beyond revealing his sex life with the first Simpson fail, screwing over Taylor to help her sell more records, and his rather controversial 'black women' remarks, this album is really amazing.
It's more depressing than his other releases, I've experienced first hand what listening to this album can do to people who are in an emotional rut. But essentially, that's what music is all about. Being able to relate.
Standouts: "Heartbreak Warfare", "All We Ever Do Is Say Goodbye", "Perfectly Lonely", "Assassin", "Edge Of Desire".
#10
Rihanna, Rated R
Rihanna at her best. Sadly no one cares or will remember outside of "Rude Boy". Rated R is such an epic album. Easily compared to her earlier albums, and can't even disrespect it and compare to Loud.
Though most of it is full of narcissistic-fused tracks & songs maybe or maybe not about Chris, its the swagger and deliverance that makes it easy to overlook that.
And it is a mainstream album, ha!
Standouts: "Hard" "ROCKSTAR 101", "Rude Boy", "Photographs", "G4L", "Fire Bomb".
#9
Travie McCoy, Lazarus
I don't expect to see this one on many lists, maybe one of its tracks (I wanna be billionaire…). But this album is really good beyond that song!
It has a classic feel to it, with songs like "Akidagain", "Dr. Feel Good", and "The Manual".
It also has a difference from Gym Class albums, slightly, but still its notable its a Travie record.
Standouts: "Superbad", "Need You", "Don't Pretend", "Billionaire", "We'll Be Alright"

You stole my "standouts" idea ( Just kidding )
I didn't know you liked Rated R, and I agree with you. It got ignored so hard that even Christina would have felt bad for Rihanna
Anyhow, I'm a BEP fan, but I just don't like The Beginning that much. 70% of it are fillers, it's a downgrade even from The E.N.D.
Why can't we get more of this Rico?

Sale El Sol is a great album
The Begining wasn't very good for me. I only liked 4 songs.

Travie and Kanye (although he better be on it next year). I have lost most of my interest in BEP so I haven't heard the album.
