Michael Jackson fans are scrambling to stop the Discovery Channel from broadcasting a gruesome reenactment of MJ's autopsy ... calling the whole thing an "affront to human dignity."
TMZ has learned ... fans have already collected nearly 1,500 signatures -- all demanding the network pull the plug on a special entitled "Michael Jackson's Autopsy" ... in which MJ's bloody autopsy is expected to be reenacted in gory detail.
The fans behind the petition call the documentary "an affront to human dignity" -- adding, "This type of sensational and unscrupulous reporting can only cause harm."
The petition states, “We ask the directors of the Discovery Channel programming to proceed with the outright cancellation of this indecent documentary.”
The doc is scheduled to air January 13th in the UK.

Michael Jackson fans are not pleased with the idea of the late King of Pop's autopsy being reenacted on TV, calling the concept an "affront to human dignity."

The Discovery Channel is planning on broadcasting a gruesome reenactment of MJ's autopsy in the UK next month, sending many Jackson fans into a tizzy.

Ummm, I know that Michael Jackson the man was an incredible person and celebrity. No doubt one of the greatest legends ever. But his body is just a body...nothing special. Our bodies aren't that special, it's the soul inside. His soul is somewhere else now, so this just seems kinda stupid to be honest.
It's disgusting, creepy, and just plain weird. But I'm not even gonna lie, if they air it, I'll probably watch it on YouTube. I bet it'll be interesting. But I still don't see the point...

Creepy, but not at all unusual. I'd probably watch it, shows like this generally catch my interest.
