Why do we have so few moderators TC? I know the question is not directly related to this thread, but I'm also a member of a forum that is almost exactly the same size as ATRL and they have over 30 moderators. There's less conflict as a result of that.

Over-moderated forums = a fail.

This forum has the perfect amount of mods, and they do a great job. No one gets away with anything due to the report system. Don't need 30 people to look through reports.

Once I made admin on Avril Bandaids, I demoted half our mods asses. We didn't need them.

Yes, if you are disrespectful or rude especially towards the staff they can kick you out. They are the ones who run the site. I've witnessed some members that are now banned forever.

That's the thing, Johnny Redfern, people don't have anything to say anymore. They just use a GIF. What happened to actually having an intelligent conversation, even just a few paragraphs? We should definitely start moderating this issue. Not only because it's annoying, but for the fact that tons of GIFs on the same page = slow load times for some users. Then again that is annoying in itself.

And yes, I do agree that intelligent conversations are lacking on this forum. Perhaps you should start banning the people who just post "you're pressed" on repeat, because gif's don't take away from intelligent conversations, they add some humour. I dislike the constant useage of gifs however, it's not necessary.

And yes ask Foxaylove who's thread is completely ****ed because of constant gif usages, he had to cancel his whole game because of it. People will learn though.

This is my point exactly. People are hating on artists all the time, causing friction. Look at Duca constantly up in the Avril threads, calling her an adolescent boy, and he isn't even provoked. That's the kind of stuff that needs removing. And in an Avril Vs. Britney thread, he had to make it into a bash Avril thread, when it's intention was to celebrate the old generation of pop stars coming back in 2011. If we want intelligent conversation returning to ATRL, that type of behaviour needs to be looked at.

Exactly, so much hate which is much more shameful yet you guys focus on the gifs? What about the rules about Random Thoughts, last time I heard people shouldn't talk smack about the artists on there yet it is what they do 24/7, maybe focusing on rules that were really implemented would be better.

As for the gifs, I think you should make a poll and see if people agree with it or not because from what I see not everyone feels annoyed by them.

i don't mind gifs. i'd rather see some gifs than just uninteresting comments. sure, good conversation is good for the forum but I usually look at forums as nothing serious. i do agree though, that it can get kinda tiring seeing the same ones over and over.

There's really no need to do that. We all know what the result would be, and it would not be pretty for some of us.

I don't even care THAT much about the GIFs. They're everywhere, which annoys me, but as long as they change up the GIFs and don't post the same ones over and over, it doesn't really bother me. The load times can be a pain sometimes, though (hooray for college broadband!).

See, the problem with this line of thinking is that, generally, message boards are meant to be threaded conversations. Obviously, ATRL is not your standard internet forum, but it is also true that intelligent conversation IS possible when people are not constantly posting GIFs to speak for themselves, even today.
