Since 1984, the winner of Best Female Pop Vocal Performance has either been nominated in the general field, pop vocal album or both... no exceptions. So, that trend bodes well for Katy and GaGa, though I think GaGa has much more of an edge than Katy. Trends are meant to be broken, but it's been over 25 years since this trend started.
