Well they changed the title from Rapunzel Unbraided to Rapunzel then finally to Tangled because they though it would lure more audience, but apparently it hadn't helped that much :\

It's only because the movie's been in production forever and has been riddled with problems.

It's kinda difficult to get an accurate figure for film budgets because there are usually a bunch of different reported figures.

I've heard that some of the $260m figure for Tangled included costs of developing a studio to animate it (much like the huge $200m budget for Dinosaur back in 2000), and it may in fact include marketing costs

As a general rule I think the highest budget number reported is probably the most accurate. Sometimes for films that go way over budget the studios try to report a lower number so there's a lower threshold for a film to be perceived as a financial success.

If that includes printing, promotion and advertising then it's very reasonable.

Didn't that cost about as much as Avatar?
