Jennifer Lopez is adding a lot of new gigs to her resume, including being the new judge for American Idol and national spokesperson for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The announcement came in Los Angeles yesterday, at the 20th Anniversary Ceremony of the organization’s name change from “Boys Clubs” to “Boys & Girls Clubs of America.” It was there that Denzel Washington, a spokesperson for BGCA since 1992, announced Lopez will join him as the
first female national spokesperson. Her appointment marks the first time in the organizations 104-year history that this key role has been expanded to two people.
The 41-year-old singer and actress, known for her roles in
Selena and
Monster-in-Law, spoke to the crowd and said, ”Join us in helping kids be great and attain great futures.”
