SFIJ destroyed her career simply because it was uber-personal, dark, verbose, and not as hook-driven. URS and SCC were a lot more commercial but her writing was still convoluted and awkward for most people to relate to.

Jagged Little Pill was not a fluke though.

Also her album after Jagged Little Pill (Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie) wasn't a commercial album, but that doesn't mean it was bad. You said you don't know "Thank U" (the first single), so you obviously haven't heard the album.
