It will be hard to stay true to herself and still deliver hard hitting pop songs like she's done in the past, but if it's all about topping herself and her only true competition is herself than I think she'll be able to deliver a successful album.

Music doesn't have to have a message to be good. BR, PF and JD etc are pop songs. That doesn't mean they are meaningless.

Pretty much. In fact I think most of The Fame, save for a few tracks like Paparazzi, didn't really have a 'deeper meaning' or 'message'.

TFM added to that in arguable amount, but I think it's a bit unfair to say that only songs with a message are worth listening to.

We all want Gaga to evolve, but that's just as true for designing catchy dance beats as it is for 'meaningful lyrics'.
