I don't understand why people buy multiple versions of the same album. If there are different versions, fair enough. But buying tons of copies of the exact same thing. Just a waste of money.

True, but they may be giving them away as Christmas presents. But hopefully, they got separate receipts because I read that having more than one album on one receipt equals only one transaction.
