2007 was before the recession; only the real estate bubble had burst in the US. The peak of album sales was in 2004 IIRC so that excuse doesn't apply.

Britney has yet to have a more popular era in the UK than GGGB.
Rihanna is more popular there.

Rihanna is NOT more popular than Britney anywhere. Rihanna relies on ONE song while Britney has a EXTENSE catalog of songs that were ALL popular and still are. That's the difference. 1 massive single doesn't compare to 20 well known singles. Buy a logic for your brain.

The thing about Britney (and I'm not stan so I'm not biased) is that she doesn't need hit songs to sell.
This is no diss but in a way it's like Justin Bieber (say what you will about him): they sell on their names alone. They're able to transcend hit singles. The kid hasn't had a hit single/promo in ages and his album sales are still schooling everyone with huge singles and huge promo.

Britney has had ten years in the game but can't seem to get a #1 album there are pull an album as successful as GGGB:R since Rihanna has been around.
Actually I'm not sure, has Britney ever had an album as successful as GGGB in the UK?

Sales
Britney
BOMT: 1,400,000+
OIDIA: 1,000,000 - 1,100,000
Britney: 500,000
ITZ: 600,000
GHMP: 1,000,000+
Blackout: 200,000+
Circus: 450,000
Rihanna
MOTS: 150,000 - 200,000
AGLM: 400,000 - 450,000
GGGB: 1,500,000+ (including re-release)
RR: 400,000
Rihanna's GGGB era was extremely massive in the UK. However, keep in mind that Britney was able to sell just as much with her debut without a re-release.
Also, Britney has had consistent, high, multi-platinum UK sales. Rihanna is also very successful but Britney's sales are more impressive tbh.

Exactly, Britney's name sells because Britney means quality (whether you agree or not is your business) and Rihanna doesn't because her name means.. Raina or whatever you pronounce it.

Also, the argument "the industry has declined since 1999-2000" does not exactly apply for the UK.
While the UK album industry has slightly declined overall since its heyday (1997-2000), the top pop stars sell better than EVER, even better than in 1997-2000. That is thanks to very efficient promotional tools, such as XFactor, which motivate the masses in the UK to buy popular albums en masse.
Therefore, popular albums sell even better than the 90s in the UK. If you observe the year-end charts you will see so many Diamond albums.

Womanizer peaked at 72-73 million AI? Is that really it?

I'm under the notion that both Circus and Blackout sold about as much as they were going to possibly sell and that tons of promo wouldn't have increased their sales by much. It was the same case with "3." Everybody was aware that it existed, everyone on the planet knows who Britney is, but not very many people outside her hardcore fanbase seemed to want it and I don't think relentless promo would have boosted its sales much.

The recession actually started in late 2007. Album sales peaked in 2000, they declined over the next three years, experienced a slight rebound in 2004, and then continued declining from there.

About 60 million from POP and other 10 split from the other stations...
If you look through the Pop chart, You'll see the #1 songs, it usually has 65-75 million...
And that's it...
No stations other than pop give wide support to Britney...

20 well known singles where? Britney has about 8 well known songs. The rest are neither here nor there.

Do you mean "3" or The Singles Collection? Because "3" is a #1 double platinum compilation single. That's nothing to bash when it had nothing but a video that wasn't well received by the fans or general viewers. Also, It has sold only 400k less than "Rude Boy" which had five weeks at #1, relentless promotion, & huge radio support. (just an example stans, so please).
If you meant TSC, then you're right. At the same time, it's a greatest hits and we know they don't sell anymore. Can't be treated as if it were a studio album.

8 is still more 1, which was the general point.

Maybe so, but I didn't know if he was exaggerating or he actually thought Britney had that many well-known songs.
