RAIJ Digital Top 100 calculates PC digital sales which are only a small portion of overall digital sales. The full-ringtone market constitutes 90% or so of the overall digital market; thus RIAJ Digital Top 100 represents a small portion of the digital market.

Therefore, the fact that she missed the top 15 with an XMas track, which naturally do way better in Japan, means that this is not very successful.

If it made the top 5, that would be worth-mentioning. But making a thread about a song at #18 in an unimportant chart is laughable.

Plus, it's the #1 international song due to lack of competition.

The Japanese ringtone industry represents the majority of the Japanese industry nowadays. International artists like Madonna have had successes there. Madonna's Miles Away was certified for 850,000 full-track ringtones and was awarded for biggest international single in 2008 by RIAJ.

Gaga has never been certified by RIAJ for a single or a ringtone.

I could be wrong, but I thought she tweeted something like: "Poker Face just went #1 in Japan! I'm gonna go home and suck my dick!" or something. It was the midst of the tranny rumors, and I remember her joking along with it. I thought it was cool how she didn't get bothered by it, hence the tweet sticking out in my mind.

1) Madonna's Hard Candy has sold about 300,000 in Japan. The Remix sold 90,000 - 100,000.

2) Hard Candy reached #1 in Japan and stayed there for two weeks. Madonna has reached #1 in Japan 5 times. Gaga has NEVER reached #1 in Japan.

3) iTunes is irrelevant in Japan.

It's a Christmas classic, deal with it.
