Well, she's doing just fine.

Womanizer, Circus, and 3 all peaked around 72-73m AI total overall. Rihanna and Katy's singles have done over 110m+ in airplay and sometimes even reaching 130-140m. Like Nicole said if Britney had the same promo and airplay as Rihanna/Katy she'd easily be selling huge numbers.

Rihannas last two albums have had better longevity in the US than Britneys past two.
Idc if Rihanna hasn't gone #1. She always has great longevity and Britneys past two albums sold the majority because of her large first week sales.

Yes. She's never even had a Top 5 single on overall airplay. She always peaks #6-#10 due to not being able to crossover.

They've had better longevity but lesser sales (until a re-release).

What matters in the end are total sales and Circus sold 1.65m in the US while Rated R barely passed 1m despite Rihanna having much bigger airplay hits and promotion.

But then again, Britney doesn't have anything to prove anymore considering she has two diamond albums and two multi-platinum albums under her belt.

Errrrrrrrr, Bobby, you love to troll. Since when is Britney in ****ing Rihanna category, first of all Circus didn't "stall" at 3 million, it sold 4, second, Britney had the 5th biggest tour of all times for a female, call me when Rihanna, Ke$ha or Katy do this, third of all, Britney is in her 12th year of career. Please stop now with your anti-Britney propaganda you've been promoting for years now.

Her initial sales are front-loaded and based off the release hype, which is exactly why it sold 1.5 million in it's first 2 1/2 months of release. That's more than the total sales of those you're comparing her to who are in the media with their music all year long promoting/performing. The lack of promotion and marketing afterward is what killed it.
And yes, "Womanizer" & "Circus" were in huge rotation. Both pop #1s. But, in overall airplay they don't touch the numbers and exposure that the likes of some of her peers get.

I agree 100%. Britney is in a privileged position, because she can still sell a decent amount regardless of promo. Katy and Ke$ha have no other choice but to promote agressively because they are new artists in a crumbling industry with very little room to grow. That circumstance doesn't make their accomplishments any worse than Britney's though--it's all relative, I guess. And people are too hard on Rihanna, by the way. She's not exactly new but she's been around for only half the time P!nk, Britney, and Beyonce have.

You say that as if it's a BAD thing. It is not. Britney sells huge amounts of albums in a short time so she can embark on huge tours later. We can't say the same about Rihanna.

Even without Circus' first week sales included Circus still outsold Rated R.

As far as Rihanna, people are hard on her because of that fact. She's been here for a while, she has single success, but still can't sell an album or tour in her home base, and faulty worldwide.

1. Do not round album sales in your favor.
2. I wasn't talking about tours, I was talking about albums.
3. for Britney's 12 year career, I guess we'll need to wait another decade to see how well the other girls hold up
4. Yes, I love to "troll" with "anti-Britney propaganda" simply because it gets under your skin

It does. But it's not me who looks dumb saying Britney is in Rihanna or Katy category.

Right, of course Britney is huge compared to Rihanna but I do agree with you, people are too hard with Rihanna, out of 4 she has only had 1 succesful era. She's still relevant enough

Rihanna is more popular there.

Baby One More Time was released in 1999.
Oops I Did It Again in 2000.
Good Girl Gone Bad had a re-release and like twice as many singles.

I wish Britney would push an album for once just so this debate wouldn't need to happen. Bobby, I disagree with the notion that Britney's recent accomplishments are no more impressive than Rihanna's or Katy's; the fact that she does so little for her sales should say enough about her power.
If Mariah, for example, had only promoted Memoirs for a week, it might have sold 400K worldwide overall. Britney did it and sold twice that in the first week...
