I have always wondered why celebrity marriages are so susceptible to divorce and other failures. With recent divorces including the likes of Eva Longoria, Christina Aguilera, etc. I decided to make a thread to discuss this topic.

What do you think is the greatest cause for celebrity divorces? Egos? Paparazzi? Success comparisons?

I personally believe that celebrities like to rush into marriage too quickly because of the attention they get from it. With a significant other, their press attention is nearly doubled.

Some of the most famous celebrity divorces of all time.

1. They don't get to spend time together like normal couples, they simply can't have normal lives.
2. Famous men have women throwing themselves at them on a daily basis, very few men can say no every time.
3. It can sometimes be for publicity.
4. Egos can come into play, particularly men find it hard to be married to a woman who earns more money than they do, men are supposed to bring home the bacon.

I think it's a combination; like you said, rushing into it, not taking the time to really get to know eachother, unbalanced success (like with Xtina, she was 100000000x more successful than her husband so it creates conflict), different interests, age differences seem to cause problems too (like one spouse might want to go partying while the other one is trying desperately to get pregnant and have a family), and I just think that some of them aren't meant to be together. The paparazzi DO play a role in destroying marriages, I think, because there's absolutely zero privacy, and while normal couples might just have their little arguments from time to time, celeb couples can't do that without being front page news.

I think its because in the celebrity world, most of the people are highly attractive. So various people get attracted to each other, even if they have spouses.

Just human nature from evolutionary psychological perspective. Males always want to f*ck younger and hotter, more fertile women (fertility plays a big role on males' subconscious mind). So my theory would be that most of these celebrity couples break up because one of the spouses (especially husbands) cheat.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are still together. I hope nothing tears them apart. They are the best couple out there

Surely the fact that Michael Jackson married was more shocking than the fact that he got divorced

Egos, some of them are narcissitic and hard to deal with, some make terrible choices in spouses (Courtney Cox), and some of it may also be for image purposes.


Like someone else said, they probably don't spend enough time with each other.

Women like Madonna and Britney, they are way too powerful for the guys out there to handle.
