Talking about UK certifications, why is it that some artists get song/album certifications throughout the year and Lady Gaga (and probably other artists too) don't.
Because Telephone and Alejandro have yet to get their Gold certification.

It doesn't have much further to go in that case. Hopefully it will do it.
I'm not sure tbh. Telephone will definitely reach 600k so perhaps they'll certify it then. It made sense to certify Rated R because it's definitely not going to exceed 2x platinum. It could be a case that they wait until a song/album is dead until they certify it? I always look at sales to see what certification a song/album is at regardless of whether or not it has been made official.
