In my opinion, the death penalty undermines the principle of life in prison. We're all going to die at some point, why would we put someone out of their misery instead of having then waste away in prison the rest of their lives?

I honestly think you have it dead on. For someone who is completely 100% guilty of a horrendous crime, I really don't care what happens to them. I'd prefer to get rid of the death penalty and just give them life in prison but I really don't care that much. Of course, I'm assuming a person is guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. That is not how it works. People are considered guilty beyond a "reasonable doubt". I'm quite accepting of that to give someone life in prison but indisputable proof really should be needed for the death penalty (if it were to remain in existence).

It's pretty severe in Singapore. We have the highest per capita execution rate in the world. I don't support it at all.

You obviously have no idea how the court system operates. Do you know how long an inmate can stay on death row? YEARS! The process is called an appeal, you should look it up. Some people spend DECADES on death row from their continuous filing of appeals in regards to their sentences. You really need to read more!

My 2 cents: no one has the right to take a (sentient) life. Whether it's the death penalty, war, crime, or whatever else, it ain't right to me. We are all equals in this stupid world.

To the people talking about money...... I can't even. When Nicole said something about how people die for ten dollars on the street and no one cares, y'all jumped on her like she had no soul. Now here y'all are saying it's too expensive to house criminals, so we may as well off 'em.

Last note: I don't entirely trust the legal system, and those who enter it. I'm still convinced that Darlie Routier is innocent, and she's on death row. It's too flawed to be taking lives over.

While you are entirely correct, decades is still shorter than life (generally) which is what discostick was originally pointing out. He is also assuming that they are always guilty which may not necessarily be the case. Honestly, the chance of being wrong is a bigger reason not to have the death penalty than simply the fact that killing someone is wrong.

Perhaps in a few thousand years, people will finally realize we are all equal.

As much as this is a joke, beheading someone is actually probably a much more humane way of killing them. It is over in a second.

I actually don't believe in the death penalty unless and only unless the person being tried committed a murder against a child. I.E. Jennifer Hudson's nephew or Shaniya Davis for instance. They had no fighting chance to live, so I feel as though the person committing the crime shouldn't have a fighting chance either. Just my two cents though
