Diwali (also known as Deepavali) is an Indian festival, celebrated by the Indian community of the world. It is popularly referred to as the festival of lights, as it is seen as a triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.

Today, Indians around the world will rise to freshly cleaned homes and will put on new clothes. They will celebrate with friends, sharing food and sweetmeats (candy) and enjoy each other's company. As evening approaches, they will begin to light lamps along the doorways and window sills of their homes, as "guiding lights" for the Goddess of Prosperity.

I saw many TV shows describing some of the most delicious Indian dishes. They use a lot of spices on their food, something that I think is fantastic.

I like the decoration, it kinda cheers up the mood of the people who live there. Lights and stuff like that, something that is done on christmas too

Any particular reason or event for the change?

With the way Sita was told to prove her commitment to Rama, I sort of stopped caring for the reason of celebration. The idea overall of the holiday is nice though.
