Honestly, I also feel like The Calling suffered from what I call "soundalike-itis," as they became popular at a time when a lot of other bands were releasing material that was VERY similar in format, themes, and sound. Typically there's only one or two survivors of this, and in this case it was Nickelback.
Also, it didn't really help that Alex Band sounded a bit like Chad Kroeger (which became even more evident when he was used for the single version of Santana's "Why Don't You & I?" after NIckelback's label forbade them to use the album version with Chad Kroeger on it). The public made their choice, I guess, and they went with Nickelback while losing interest in The Calling.
"Wherever You Will Go," though >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> most of what NIckeclback has done

I doubt her record of having 3 songs in Hot 100 top 10 will be broken anytime soon. At the beginning she could kind of coexist with Bey at the beginning of DIL era but then it was like they both sing and dance and bey does both alot better so there was no way for her to continue to coexist. The issues that happened at Def Jam and Murder Inc didn't help her cause and her material wasn't as strong.

I dont think the problem was Ashanti, it was the phase were the radio was leaving the RnB era over to Dance era

The reason why Ashanti got huge on her first album was because she had no competition. Aaliyah just died, TLC disbanded, Mary J Blige's album during that time was a dissapointment, etc. Ashanti just had a nice clean easy sweep. Also, nothing really stood out about her. Her voice was mediocre, and lets not get on her dance moves.
Then, Beyonce happened. She was better looking, better dancer, better singer, and had better music. They kinda had the same lane, but Bey took it to the next level. and the rest was history.

Beyonce is just a very talented, hardworking woman. She has good people around her, she doesn't speak badly about her peers and she stays humble in her interviews. She just knows how to play her cards right and I hope she continues to do so. If she does, she could have success well into her 40s.

Beyoncé had/has amazing music and Matthew was/is an amazing manager. She has multiple hits and has made a name for herself through, amazing live performances, recognition from legends, humbleness, great music, and gaining a VERY loyal fan/stan base that will be with her wherever and whenever.
