The time/effort/money spent on another single isn't worth it when the album has already sold so much and you can't make maximum profit. Better to spend the resources on launching a new album. "The Fame" didn't go exactly as originally planned either.

There were probably multiple factors as to why they didn't release another single. No time to promote and push another single, bad press, overexposure. Alejandro not hitting #1 on pop could have been a deciding point too and they realized radio needed a break...
