LA Times: Album of the Year Predictions

Guru opts for "The Fame Monster" (Lady Gaga) in the fifth slot while DoubleD says it will be "Live at the Troubadour" (James Taylor and Carole King).
I'm shocked that DoubleD doesn't have "Fame Monster" in his high five. He's wrong about that. I say that either "The Suburbs" or "Soldier of Love" will be snubbed and the survivor will be pitted against "Fame Monster," "Recovery," "Need You Now" and "Troubadour."

DOUBLED'S COMMENTARY: Eminem and Lady Antebellum have the best-selling albums of the year, so they'll easily get in since the industry wants to celebrate artists who actually can still sell records. The other three spots will be filled by critically acclaimed veterans with gold or platinum albums (James Taylor/Carole King, Sade) and either critically acclaimed "under the radar" artists (Arcade Fire, Janelle Monae, Miranda Lambert) or rock veterans (Pearl Jam). This category could really go either way since the industry agrees that it has been a pretty lousy year for album sales.

GURU'S COMMENTARY: The past three years, the Grammys have nominated one album from each genre. If the pattern continues, then I expect Eminem to represent the rap field. Eminem is a previous two-time nominee in this category for "The Marshall Mathers LP" (in 2000) and "The Eminem Show" (in 2002). Jay-Z has yet to be nominated for album of the year. It is very likely this year that the one-from-each-genre pattern could be broken and there may be two rap albums nominated for album of the year. It has happened twice previously with Eminem's "The Eminem Show" and Nelly's "Nellyville" in 2002, and in 2003, album of the year winner Outkast 's "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" and Missy Elliot's "Under Construction.
Lady Gaga was nominated for album of the year and is likely to remain for her followup EP "The Fame Monster." It would be similar to Michael Jackson's "HIStory: Past, Present and Future" album of the year nomination (in 1995), which was a greatest hits album sold with a second disc of new material. Lady Gaga will represent the dance field for the second year in a row.
Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" was the biggest-selling album of 2010 until Eminem dethroned them. Expect Lady Antebellum to represent the country field. Miranda Lambert's "Revolution" is the only other strong country competitor.
Sade is a veteran and is possible to represent the R&B Field. Other possibilities in R&B are Alicia Keys' "The Element of Freedom," Usher's "Raymond v. Raymond" and Janelle Monae's "The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III)."
The critically acclaimed "The Suburbs" by Arcade Fire hopes to get upgraded and represent the alternative field for album of the year. Long-overdue Jack Johnson has the best-selling rock album of 2010 for "To the Sea."
Pop field possibilities are James Taylor and Carole King's "Live at the Troubadour" and Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream."

Why would someone predict Teenage Dream when its reviews were horrible, and no one predicted Rated R when it was reviewed better than most of the albums predicted?
