Yeah exactly. One of the prime reasons for Ami Suzuki's unfortunate downfall is not all on her blacklisting but the fact she had to wait 5 years to release a new album. 2-3 years is usually a career killer for most people in J-Pop but not even the biggest superstar can afford 4-5 years off.
I know I just can't imagine Utada being the next Ami.
I'm not gonna lie, I WILL miss her. I hated This Is The One but I really like her Japanese music.
I can live without her music though so I will only miss her when I listen to her lol
One thing I respect about Kumi is that she didn't achieve success right away like Namie, Utada & Ayu all did. She had to work hard and build her way to the top.

She's not the biggest J-Pop artist but she definitely has her own place in the industry and right now she's definitely bigger than Utada.
Deffo. I kinda wish she exploded in 2000 so her overall sales couldve been higher but oh well. She was untouchable from 2005-2007 and I hope she makes a comeback soon. Not that her sales now are bad they do pale a bit in comparison to what she was doing in 2005-2007.
