Fox News' token black guy. His remarks were disgusting.

What did he say about Muslims?

He gets worried and nervous when he boards a plane and sees people in Muslim garb that identify themselves first and foremost as Muslims...and quoting a Time Square bomber who said 'America's war on Muslims is just starting'.

But he also stressed at the end that Bush said it's not a war on Muslims but rather [terrorism] (he gets interrupted as per usual on Fox News).

He just stated his opinion. An opinion that is shared by A LOT of people. He never said he hated Muslims. It is only an opinion. He said what he felt. He exercised his free speech. I don't agree with what he said but it is quite an outrage to me that he was fired. He never said any words of hatred.

I just hate that NPR is getting dragged into all of this. Now a bunch of idiot conservatives are trying to get their funding taken away. **** that! Keep free media alive!

He wasn't fired for expressing those views. He was fired for breaching his contract with NPR. But of course, the conservatives spun it to make the "liberal media" look bad.

Even if it is an opinion shared by a lot of people, that doesn't make it the least bit appropriate. The notion kinda reminds me of the whole mosque thing in a way.

NPR has very strict guidelines, his being fired is perfectly acceptable/reasonable.

Looks like Fox News is looking for that credibility they're known for again.

Not in the least bit the same as the whole mosque thing. Trying to prevent someone from using land they purchased to build what they want is wrong. Speaking freely is not wrong.

I'll admit I didn't read much into the story and am not entirely certain if his contract with NPR was really breached. In that case, the firing would be ok. I'll still defend his right to say what he did though.

In agreement. I think that Juan Williams (and Mara Liasson) were both well-known asskissers to Fixed Noise talent and NOT impartial. At least NPR has standards, unlike RNCTV.

it's like saying, "oh black guys on the streets are scary coz they are black, i'm not a racist but you know i don't want to get robbed." or "the gays on the street better not act too feminine, i have nothing against the gays, but they better not take it too far."

I didn't mean it like that. It reminds me of the mosque thing because there was a great deal of people that held the opinion that it shouldn't be built there, kinda like how there are many people that share the view expressed by Williams. I meant to say just because a lot of people have that kinda opinion, it doesn't validate the appropriateness of such remarks/views.
